- How to Create Your Wedding Guest List Without the Stress | Austin, TX Wedding Planners
Building your wedding guest list might sound simple, but we know it can get overwhelming fast. Between navigating family expectations, plus-one questions, and deciding whether to include kids, there’s a lot to consider. Don’t worry — we’ve got you covered! Finalize Your Guest List 6 Months Out As a good rule of thumb, your guest list should be set about six months before your wedding day. This gives you time to send out save-the-dates and make sure your nearest and dearest have plenty of notice to celebrate with you! Start with Your VIPs The easiest way to begin is by writing down the people you absolutely can’t imagine your wedding without — family and your closest friends. This core group will be the foundation of your guest list. Decide on a Kid-Free or Kid-Friendly Celebration This can be a tough call, but remember: it’s your day. If you prefer an adults-only celebration, that’s totally okay! Need help figuring out how to communicate that? Check out our blog post on how to politely ask for a kid-free wedding day. Set Clear Plus-One Guidelines Plus ones can add up quickly, so think about what feels right for you. Many couples opt to invite plus ones only if they’ve met the guest’s partner or if the couple is in a serious relationship. The key is to set a standard you’re comfortable with and communicate it kindly but clearly. Handle Guest Requests with Grace It’s not uncommon for parents or in-laws to ask if you can invite their friends or extended family — even people you might not be close with. If this happens (especially if they’re contributing financially), have an honest, respectful conversation. Let them know your goal is to keep the day intimate and meaningful, filled with the people who truly know and love you. Keep Your Budget in Mind Once your list feels solid, take a close look at your budget. Factor in costs for seating, catering, cake, and favors. If you’re over budget, revisit your list together and see if there are any cuts that would help you stay on track without sacrificing what’s most important to you. At the end of the day, your wedding should feel like a reflection of you as a couple, surrounded by people who will make your big day even more special. Trust your instincts, set healthy boundaries, and enjoy this beautiful part of your planning journey! - Keeping Their Memory Close: Meaningful Ways to Honor a Late Loved One on Your Wedding Day Austin, TX Wedding Planners
First, if you’ve lost someone close to you, we’re sending you the biggest hug. We know firsthand how hard it can be to plan such a joyful occasion when someone you love isn’t there to celebrate with you. As wedding planners, we’ve seen so many beautiful and personal ways couples have honored their late loved ones, and we wanted to share a few meaningful ideas to help you do the same. Reserve a Seat at your Ceremony One of the simplest yet most touching ways to honor a loved one is by reserving a seat for them at your ceremony. Placing a framed photo, a small bouquet, or a personal item on a chair in the front row creates a beautiful tribute and a reminder that they are still with you in spirit. Incorporate Their Clothing Wearing or carrying a piece of their clothing is a heartfelt way to feel connected to them. We’ve seen brides wrap part of their mother’s or grandmother’s dress around their bouquet, grooms wear their father’s cufflinks or favorite tie, and even handkerchiefs sewn into a dress or suit lining for a hidden but meaningful touch. Using a Piece of their Jewelry Jewelry holds so much sentimental value, and wearing a late loved one’s piece can be a special way to carry them with you. A bride might wear her grandmother’s ring or earrings, while a groom could wear his grandfather’s watch. It’s a subtle yet deeply personal tribute. Add a Bouquet or Boutonniere Charm Bouquet and boutonniere charms are a beautiful way to keep a loved one close. Whether it’s a tiny photo frame, an engraved name, or a charm with their handwriting, these keepsakes are a meaningful addition that can also be captured in wedding photos. Include Their Favorite Song Music has a way of making memories feel alive. You could walk down the aisle to their favorite song, dedicate a dance in their honor, or play it as the last song of the night. We’ve even had couples incorporate a late loved one’s voice recording into their vows or reception playlist—an incredibly touching way to bring them into the day. Light a Candle or Display a Memory Table Setting up a small memory table at your reception with framed photos, candles, or special keepsakes is a beautiful way to honor multiple loved ones. A single candle placed near your ceremony or sweetheart table can also symbolize their presence throughout the celebration. We know how important it is to make your wedding feel personal and meaningful. No matter how you choose to honor your loved ones, we’re here to help bring your vision to life in a way that feels right for you. Their memory will always be a part of your celebration, and we’re honored to help you create a day filled with love, joy, and cherished moments. - From Backyard I Do’s to Venue Vibes: Choosing What’s Right for Your Wedding Day | Austin, TX Wedding Planners
Planning the perfect wedding starts with one big question: where’s it all going down? Some couples are drawn to the cozy, sentimental vibe of a home setting—whether it’s a family ranch, an Airbnb tucked in the Hill Country, or their own backyard. Others envision celebrating at a dedicated venue, with built-in amenities and a team of pros to handle the details. Both options have their own unique appeal, but there’s more to consider than just the setting. While a home wedding can feel intimate and personal, it often comes with hidden costs and logistical challenges. Venues, on the other hand, can simplify the process but may feel less flexible or come with a higher price tag. If you’re deciding between hosting at home or booking a venue in 2025, we’re breaking down the pros and cons of both—so you can find the option that fits your vision, priorities, and budget The Grand Lady Convenience That Keeps Everyone Happy A home wedding might feel personal, but venues bring a level of ease and elegance that’s tough to beat—especially for your guests. Picture this: no one’s hauling rented chairs across a lawn or waiting in line for a single bathroom. Here’s what top Austin venues deliver straight out of the gate: • Seating Sorted: Tables and chairs for both ceremony and reception? Check. No scrambling to rent extras or figure out where to put them. • Bathroom Bliss: Built-in facilities mean no porta-potties or awkward house invasions. (Luxury restroom trailers are an option, but why bother when venues have it covered?) • Trash Talk: Dumpsters and bags are on-site—no post-party cleanup for your family. • Catering Ready: Full kitchens (some even with ice machines!) keep your food game strong without makeshift setups. • Power Play: Plenty of outlets for DJs, lighting, and photo booths—no generators needed. • Lit Vibes: Outdoor lighting already in place for golden-hour photos and late-night dance floors. • Accessibility Wins: Ramps and wide entries make it easy for guests in wheelchairs and vendors rolling in gear. • Weatherproof Plans: Rain in Austin? No sweat. Venues often have indoor options ready, so you’re not panic-renting a tent last minute. Plus , residential areas can come with noise ordinances, parking struggles, and shuttle logistics—issues most venues already have solutions for. Private Residence Built-In Expertise Venues host weddings all the time —they’ve seen it all and are ready for whatever the day brings. Their teams know how to keep everything running smoothly, from setting up chairs to flipping the reception space. That experience is priceless when it comes to unexpected hiccups like weather, power outages, or timeline changes. Space to Celebrate Big Whether you’re inviting 50 or 250, venues are built for crowds—without feeling cramped. Austin venues like Villa Antonia or Mae’s Ridge offer sprawling lawns, airy ballrooms, and Hill Country views that give everyone room to mingle and dance. The Oasis Instagram-Worthy Aesthetics Let’s be real—your wedding’s going to be all over socials. Venues deliver the wow factor without needing to transform a space from scratch. Think architectural details, lush gardens, or stunning natural backdrops ready to set the scene. Creating that same aesthetic at home would take serious effort (and maybe a landscaping crew). Stonehouse Villa Packages That Simplify Everything One trend on the rise? All-inclusive venue packages. Many Austin venues now offer bundled services like catering, décor, and day-of coordination—saving time, cutting vendor juggling, and often making the budget stretch further. Stress? Not Your Problem Hosting at home sounds sweet until you’re answering “where’s the bathroom?” questions in the middle of your first dance. Venues handle setup, logistics, and cleanup—letting you actually enjoy your wedding day. Barr Mansion A home wedding has its nostalgic pull—we get it. But as Austin’s wedding scene evolves, venues are offering unmatched beauty, convenience, and peace of mind. From guest-friendly perks to built-in backup plans, venues are designed to make your day unforgettable—for all the right reasons. Ready to find the perfect space to bring your vision to life?
